What’s New in 2019?

ATTENTION! ITS THAT TIME OF YEAR PEOPLE!

We’re just under two months away from New Year’s where old anime that we have been waiting for is returning . Manga’s that we have been reading for AGES have finally been given the opportunity to be animated! Not to mention new anime that we can sink our teeth into. Who knows? It might just end up being one of YOUR favourites!

So with that being said! Whose ready to see what’s coming out this year?!

Starting the new year with a big bang is Mob Psycho 100:

Genre: Action, Slice Of Life, Comedy, Supernatural

Mob Psycho is noteworthy as it was written by ONE. ONE being a pseudonym of the Japanese manga artist best known for his web comic One Punch Man (I’ll be getting to that!)

The comic for Mob Psycho 100 started in April 2012 and it was later adapted into an anime in mid 2016. Can you believe that was two years ago? The series was also so popular in Japan that a stage play was developed right after. Interestingly enough Setsuo Ito the anime voice actor that starred Seigeo Kageyanma, better known as Mob was also the main lead in the play.

Season two of Mob Psycho (which took TWO  WHOLE YEARS not that I’m counting or anything) continues the story on Mob and his growing psychic powers as well as fighting crime and defeating evil. I’m honestly excited to see my favourite eight grader! You reckon he’s going to stay out of trouble?

Whose also excited to see hilarious mentor Reigen?

Because guess what I am!

Synopsis:

Seigeo Kageyama, who’s also known as Mob, is a teenager with esper ability. While he tries not to stand out among his peers, his powers often get him involved in increasingly dangerous situations. Mob’s powers become more powerful as time passes, so he has to harness his emotions further to keep a lid on his powers. There’s an organization that is working to gather espers for nefarious purposes, which means Mob has to fight for his life while trying to keep his abilities in check.

Moving on but not too far is ONE PUNCH MAN! That’s right ladies and gentleman, SAITAMA IS BACK!

Genre: Action, Supernatural, Comedy, Parody, Sci-Fi, Superpower, Senin

*Cue screaming!*

It has taken everything in me not to read the manga as much as everyone is telling me otherwise.  One Punch man is back on our screens in Spring 2019, April to be exact!

One Punch man is an ongoing Japanese superhero web comic created by ONE which began publication in early 2009. In June 2012, the series quickly went viral hitting 7.9 million viewers. The fun didn’t stop there! In 2012 a remake in the form of a digital manga was created by Yusuke Murata which began publication on Shueisha’s Young Jump Web Comics.

Due to the popularity of the series, it was adapted into an anime by the anime television Madhouse which aired season 1 between October and December 2015. THANK YOU MADHOUSE!

IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED THIS BEAUTIFUL GEM I SUGGEST YOU PAUSE YOUR LIFE AND GET ON IT!

(That’s right! I SAID BEAUTIFUL!)

As of right now it’s unknown what to expect from season two, but be prepared for a whole load of laughter from the funny duo Saitama and Genos!

(Me patiently waiting for any information on One punch man!)

It really is action year isn’t it?! Shingeki No Kyojin, otherwise known as Attack on Titan is unstoppable this year! Season Three Part Two has already been announced and is expected to air Mid April 2019!

Those who have watched season three know just what is waiting for Eren and the gang! Lets just say it’s not looking pretty.

But come on! We get to see Levi Ackerman in the flesh?! COUNT ME IN!

It’s not just ongoing anime I’m looking forward to, but new ones too! Anyone looking for a good psychological series that will keep you on your toes?

Well look no further! I present you, drum rolls please..

*Drums rolls*

Mayonka No Occult Koumuin!

Genre: Fantasy, Shoujo, Supernatural

Mayonaka No Occult Komuin is written by Yoko Tamotsu. Did you know the manga was actually inspired by a novel written by Masui Suzuki. In May 2013, Yoko Tamotsu first launched the manga in Kadokawa Shoten’s Shojo manga magazine. Television adaptors Liden Films took it upon themselves to turn it into an anime and will premiere in April 2019! Exciting stuff right?! Fingers crossed its as good as I’m hoping it to be!

Synopsis

Miyako Arata is newly assigned to the Shinjuku Ward Office’s Nighttime Regional Relations Department. Each of Tokyo’s 23 wards has one such department, established to mitigate paranormal and occult-related events. Arata’s special skill is the understanding of non-human speech, and the story begins with him encountering a youkai at Shinjuku Gyoen park who refers to him as the legendary Heian-era exorcist, Abe no Seimei.

Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen

I can’t wait for what funny dialogue this anime will bring this coming new year! There really has been a lack of good Shoujo anime! I’m glad 2019 is looking to be an interesting one!

Genre: Comedy, Psychological, Romance, School, Seinen

Synopsis

Considered a genius due to having the highest grades in the country, Miyuki Shirogane leads the prestigious Shuchiin Academy’s student council as its president, working alongside the beautiful and wealthy vice president Kaguya Shinomiya. The two are often regarded as the perfect couple by students despite them not being in any sort of romantic relationship.

However, the truth is that after spending so much time together, the two have developed feelings for one another; unfortunately, neither is willing to confess, as doing so would be a sign of weakness. With their pride as elite students on the line, Miyuki and Kaguya embark on a quest to do whatever is necessary to get a confession out of the other. Through their daily antics, the battle of love begins!

Its not quite new year without a harem anime on the works! You heard it from here! This early January we have quite a few unique anime with the main lead character surrounding by a bunch of girls! Sometimes harem anime is a hit a miss for me. I’m really hoping this one is a hit!

Gotoubun no Hanayome

Genre: Harem, Comedy, Romance, School, Shounen

Synopsis

Japanese high school student Uesugi Fuutarou has achieved excellent grades but leads a difficult life otherwise: no mother, no friends, and a father struggling with large debts while Fuutarou and his younger sister Raiha often go hungry.

An opportunity presents itself when the rich Nakano family arrives in his school and Fuutarou is hired as a highly-paid tutor, but he discovers his five charges- charming identical quintuplet sisters of varied personalities- have in common zero interest in study and abysmal grades. Some of the quintuplets are against having an unknown male in their apartment, but Fuutarou’s diligent tenacity gradually convinces those girls to reduce their attempts to have him poisoned or arrested, and to advance in their studies.

(‘Studying’ hey, you reckon they’re going to get far?)

There are so many more beautiful anime coming out this year, and I could honestly go on forever!! But I just wanted to end it with the BRILLIANT NEWS OF CHIHAYAFURU SEASON 3 IS EXPECTED TO RETURN!!

Genre: Drama, Josei, School, Slice Of Life, Sports

Chihayafuru is the anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Yuki Suetsugu . This series was serialised in the magazine Be Love. The anime was first released in 2011 by Madhouse (Thank you Madhouse once again) and season two continued later on in 2013. I CANNOT believe it has taken SIX years for season three to be approved!

If you’re thinking whats so interesting about card game, stop thinking that right now! It’s more than a card game, so much more!! This anime is expected to return in April 2019 and like most anime there isn’t much information on what we will be getting. But hey those who have’t watched it I suggest you start from season 1! You are in for a fun ride!
